About Us

Our Story

Indigo was founded in 2017 by two Jacksonville-based art therapists and school teachers who had a vision to create an inclusive space that inspires authentic expression and well-being through the arts. Since then, we've grown into a thriving small group practice of expressive arts therapists, located in the heart of the beautiful historic San Marco district of Jacksonville, Florida, and serving individuals of all ages and abilities both locally and nationally.

 

Indigo is proud to be a part of the incredible creative communities we serve. The artists we work with every day help us to feel grounded in the (sometimes messy) work we do. Expressive Art Therapies

Expressive therapies engage the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal expression alone. At Indigo Art Therapy Studio, our credentialed expressive arts therapists integrate therapeutic tools and modalities with creative practices that include art making, dance, mindfulness, yoga, and somatic techniques to for an integrative approach to mental health. Clinical expressive therapy support is available virtual in the state of Florida and locally in our Jacksonville-based studio.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship. Art Therapy, facilitated by a professional art therapist, effectively supports personal and relational treatment goals as well as community concerns. Art Therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.

Dance & Movement Therapy

Dance/Movement Therapy is the therapeutic use of physical movement and psycho-somatic awareness to support the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social integration of the individual. Dance/Movement therapy is a holistic approach to healing, maintaining that all parts of the self are interconnected, reflecting and responding to one another: Changes in the physical body reflect changes in the psyche, and vice versa. Dance/Movement Therapy supports us in connecting with the self and others by tapping into the wealth of knowledge that the physical body holds, and creating a sense of safety in the body.

Arts & Wellness

At Indigo, arts and wellness is where creativity meets healing. We offer expressive, body-centered experiences, infusing art-making, movement, and mindfulness, that support emotional well-being, connection, and self-discovery. Our arts and wellness programs are offered in-person in the Jacksonville, Florida, area. Virtual arts and wellness programs are accessible beyond our physical location.

Arts in Medicine

Arts in Medicine integrates creative expression into healthcare settings to support healing, hope, and emotional well-being. Through visual art, storytelling, and mindful practices, we offer patents and providers meaningful ways to connect, reflect, and restore balance.

Corporate Wellness

Our corporate wellness programs bring creativity, mindfulness, and connection into the workplace. Through guided art, movement, and restorative practices, we help teams reduce stress, build resilience, and foster a healthier, more engaged work culture.
